Cookie policy

A plain-English explanation of which cookies this site uses, and how you can control them.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember things about you — like whether you've already accepted the cookie banner, or whether you're partway through filling in a form. Some cookies are essential to the site working; others are useful but optional.

The cookies this site sets

Criptora keeps the cookie footprint of this site deliberately small. The full list:

  • PHPSESSID — a session cookie that allows the contact form's CSRF protection to work. Strictly necessary, expires when you close the browser.
  • criptora_cookie_choice_v1 — stored in localStorage rather than as a cookie, this records whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies. Persists for 12 months.

That's the lot. We do not currently use third-party analytics, advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or social media tracking on this site.

If we add analytics later

If we add a privacy-friendly analytics tool (we're evaluating Plausible and Fathom), we'll update this page first and you will see the cookie banner again so you can choose. Analytics will never be enabled without that explicit opt-in.

Changing your choice

Use the small cookie icon at the bottom-right of any page to re-open the banner and change your selection. You can also clear cookies from your browser settings at any time — but doing so will mean the banner reappears on your next visit.

Cookies set by services we embed

This site embeds Google Fonts for typography. Google Fonts itself does not set tracking cookies, but it does receive your IP address when fonts are loaded. If that bothers you, you can block the request via browser settings — the site will fall back to a system font automatically.
